Description

Mixed Media Giclee piece comprised of Acrylic, foil, glass and resin on board-mounted canvas. Please note each piece will vary slightly in color and styling.

This piece is the second in Greg Creason’s “Sugar Skull Series” that was inspired by his experiences in culturally rich areas like California and New Orleans, where Mexican and artistic traditions thrive. The series showcases Creason’s deep admiration for “La Catrina,” an icon of Mexico's Day of the Dead created by artist José Guadalupe Posada in the early 1900s. Originally, La Catrina served as a satire, symbolizing that death is an equalizer, affecting all regardless of status—a reminder to embrace authenticity rather than aspire to false ideals. This appreciation of Mexican heritage and symbolism has driven Creason’s unique, colorful art style, visible in his sugar skull works, which fuse cultural homage with intricate, modern design.
